This network explores the theme of bodily integrity from three distinct methodological perspectives: analytic, grammatical and phenomenological. Questions include: the relationship between bodily experience and a sense of self; introspective bodily self-awareness and the cultivation of virtue; bodily emotions and self-respect; bodily wholeness and identity; bodily memory and narrative identity.
The network resides in the Department of Philosophy, Durham University and is a collaboration between Dr Rachael Wiseman, Dr Clare MacCumhaill and Dr Luna Dolezal. Other members are welcome.
We held our Inaugural meeting at the University of Vienna in May 2015. Details below
Please do participate in our virtual reading group. Here.
Later in 2015 we’ll be launching an exciting project on bodily-improvement, self-improvement and world-improvement (a development of the ‘Trickle-Up Integrity‘ project) in collaboration with artist in residence Ilana Mitchell and Wunderbar.
